Winifred Phillips – Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole Original Videogame Soundtrack Review

Speed Racer, God of War, Spore Hero, and SimAnimals; What do these titles have in common? They were fortunate enough to have Winifred Phillips grace their soundtrack with her pencil and staff [paper]. Of course these are not the only games she has worked on, but we are here today to observe the newest addition to her musical repertoire: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole Original Videogame Soundtrack.
The job as composer was handed to Winifred in January of this year by Zack Synder, director of Legend of the Guardians and 300, which was nine months prior to the theatrical and game release. An important note to make about this soundtrack is that it was completed before the composer of the film, David Hirschfelder, was given the job to work on the score, so what this means is that everything you hear on the soundtrack is of complete originality on Winifred’s part and a demonstration of her imaginative and magnificent style on the game’s soundtrack.
Dive: The Medes Islands Secret Original Sound Track
“Water Levels” rank in my top three things in video games that I do not like. Why? Play TNMT (insane challenge) or any games that causes you to die due to drowning. I like exploring in video games without having to deal with the dread of dying for simply moving around in an aquatic area. I would openly accept the disbelief in drowning in games. [/rant]
That’s not to say that this game is bad at all, I wouldn’t know I have not played this WiiWare title. The game actually looks pretty interesting from the gameplay videos I have viewed, as well visually lulling (I love aquatic videos/pictures/graphics).
I am not here to talk about the game though, go to a game review site for that kind of information. Today I bring you the soundtrack of this game, which I found quite relaxing as well mysterious. Below are two tracks from the game so you may sample them before downloading. I hope I have chosen the right ones to persuade you on obtaining this lovely soundtrack.
Track 01 – Dive: The Medes Islands
Track 04 – Treasures
A Video Game Music Blog

I started this tumblr game music blog to post game music at random sometime in June. This is just a heads up that I’m going to connecting Rhythmroo’s Twitter to this blog. Other than this, the soundtrack for the next game I was going to post is taking a tad bit longer to put together so I might link over to a website that carries the SNES Music file for it. Yes it is an SNES game, and I believe it’s a game that has been looked over. To be honest, I never knew the game even existed until about a month or two ago. Well that’s all, see ya again on the next post.

HURRY! A Final Fantasy X Impossible Remix Album
After a long break from the last post, I have a remix album for you that you can download at http://hurryffx.kngi.org. Included in this Fan album is 8 remixes of the track “Hurry” from Final Fantasy X. I’ve only taken a listen to half of them, and so far the album is good for easy listening with headphones or in surround sound. I’ll be looking forward to hearing the rest when I’m not busy with classes.
Speaking of classes… I’m pretty bum rushed with classes this semester, and I expect the same next semester, so posts from me are going to be scarce. I’ll try to shoot for one post a week (any more and I’ll be pushing it). Next week will actually be a soundtrack from a game that won my heart over the second I heard the track “Sinking Ship!” which greatly reminded me of Chrono Trigger’s Guardia “Guardia Castle”. I won’t tell you which game it is, but if you snoop around you’ll find out, especially if you know my youtube account ;)
Tower of Heaven Original Soundtrack
From the ashes Rhythmroo.com begins its posts once again. Today we present you with the Tower of Heaven Original Soundtrack, which is purchasable through flashygoodness’s Bandcamp store. It cost $1, or any amount of your choosing. The asking contribution is $5, but the price is up to you.
I came across this game a couple of days ago through the RPGFan forums and felt that I should post about the music, because the music was a trip by to the days of old with my brick Game Boy. Graphics made in the same fashion of the first Game Boy’s screen and music same, I fell in love with both game and music immediately.
Even though today’s game soundtrack isn’t free, it’s pretty darn cheap, even at request contribution price, so I am pluging this game’s soundtrack for creativeness and nostalgia.
