The other day I found myself watching a Ustream video of someone playing this game (PS version) and forgot how charming this game was. I’m sure a vast majority of the folks who played this game found it too sissy or a girl’s game, but I remembered it being pretty cool, granted I only played the first 30 minutes. I plan on playing this game over the summer and read that it’s relatively short, so it’ll make a good in-between-game before Arc Rise Fantasia comes out.
Why am I bringing up this game now? It’s a Musical disguised as an RPG. I thought it was pretty innovating to attempt this for a game, even with the knowledge that it was aimed for children, because this idea sounds pretty Avant-garde to the field of gaming. I give the developers a pat on the back for this idea, it takes a lot of guts to try to pull something like this off. Actually, I hope there can be more adventurous developers that would touch on the field of Musical RPGs, but instead of using cuteness as the factor use more humorous elements. I need to play the whole game though before I say anything else though, but I’ve seen some of the segments on Youtube and thought they were great but not just there yet.
I’ll leave this track which I found on the soundtrack that came with the game, it’s called;
My problem with the game is that it’s too dang easy. I ended up quitting partway through because I was bored with the actual gameplay even though the dialogue and characters made me smile. I am a fan of Nippon Ichi, though, and tend to like their games. It was a cool idea, just way too easy.
I remember the game being absurdly easy when I did play, so here’s hoping the actual story and characters keep my entertained.
