F-ZERO The 8-Bit Suite
And speaking of chiptune transformations in the last post, here is a tribute album to F-Zero that came out a couple of days ago. The album came out a lot more enjoyable than I had imagined, which is always a great thing! The person responsible for this bundle of joy is Shiryu, which you can visit his website to download the album by clicking that name.
Guess how I ran into this album as well? The same for the past 2 albums. VGMdb.net is just a great place to find music and their original locations. If VGMdb.net wasn’t around, man that would just be the worst. I don’t even want to think about such a heinous thing. Well, my sources are below as well as tracks. I guess you can get used to that format I’m following for now.
Track 10 – Fire Field
Track 8 – White Land

I need to give this a good hard listen. F-Zero is one of my favorite soundtracks (one of my current projects is an arrange album of the game). But the SNES hardware allowed for more channels and as a result, more complex layers of composition. It’s just hard to translate that into 4 channels. Mega Man X (the first one) is another one of my favorite soundtracks and the 4 channel versions featured in Mega Man Xtreme (GB) just felt pretty wrong. As of now, though, I’ve only skimmed through this F-Zero album, so like I said: I will have to give it a good hard listen.
It’s definitely an album that grows on you. Some tracks feel ehh, but there are some redeeming tracks that made me like it.
