Mana Khemia & Daniel Tidwell’s Versus Video Games
I only own the promotional soundtrack for the first game, so I don’t get the pleasure of listening to all the music. Fortunately enough, the few they did include sufficed to my need of energetic music (Battle themes and the sought).
Right now I have the game set on my backlog shelf, in line with the rest of the unfinished games I own, that I plan on finishing this year possibly maybe. I can usually count on Team Gust’s sound team to deliver a good soundtrack, with no exception to this game.
I really wished that I had more free time to play the game, but that is never a factor when scheduling my day with practicing on the piano and just writing music. My compositions are actually starting to evolve into something that I enjoy in which, if you know me well, is a very rare occurrence. I’ll jump on Finale, after I download it off the main site, and notate it and then have it uploaded online for everyone to hear.
Yeah, that was actually one of my original intentions for Rhythmroo.com, to also upload my music and talk about it. I didn’t really think it flowed with the site, so I decided to wait and make another blog later for the talk of my music and compositional styles. The blog itself isn’t geared towards game music talk, so tread carefully there and expect more music talk. You know, modulations, resolutions, dominants, tritones, and so on. Oh, and just to let any composer that happens to pass by; Glockenspiels are wonderful, please add more of it to your pieces to make it magical!
It would be a bit unfair if I cheated you out of some tracks to listen to from Mana Khemia, so here’s two tracks from the promotional soundtrack. I chose to stick with the battle themes here, so enjoy.
Track 12 – The Menace
Track 16 – Halucinate Bell
And to keep the idea of game music in mind, check out this arranged album of game music I happened to come across by when surfing around while making this post. The info is all there on the website. Here’s a youtube sample of what’s to come, which is nothing but greatness. Pre-order is available. Just a simple plug.
Yes, this was very sudden and spontaneous, but that’s kind of when I work my best. Some planned things usually end up foiled, while random things like these become wonderful. I’m babbling again, good day to you.

I had never heard of that Daniel Tidwell album before and now I have it pre-ordered. Thanks for the heads up!
Yeah, I just happened to pass by vgmdb.net and saw it on the upcoming section on the side when I was writing this post. From what I heard, the tunes are great and worth my purchase. I won’t make the pre-order deadline, but I’ll buy later this month. I can’t wait to hear it. And you’re welcome!
The Daniel Tidwell album came over the weekend. It’s very enjoyable. I think my main complaint though is that almost every song on it is “well traveled” territory (with an exception here and there). They’re very rocking, I’m just not sure the world needs any more arrangements of Mega Man 2′s Wily Stage.
That’s good to hear it was enjoyable, and I expected some of the tracks to be commonly arranged tracks. I haven’t even looked at the track list to be honest, but I always enjoy listening to different versions of the same track. I hope to eventually create one album dedicated to the same track with multiple arrangements. Classical music does that sometimes, if not a lot, like Pachelbel’s canon in D, which I own an album with just that track in so many great renditions.
I’ll be looking forward to pick that album up when I receive a substantially large check in the future. Thanks for the heads up!
