Music From Alone in the Dark: Far From Scary
Sadly I can not play anything related to Survival Horror games because they creeps my right the heck out, so I end up just watching Playthroughs like a wimp. What causes me to get nerve-racked isn’t so much the game itself, but the dreading music that accompanies each game. It’s when the music is playing softly and then suddenly a triple forte rise in music is what gets me every time. Not this game though.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so relaxed with a Survival Horror game’s soundtrack as much as I was with Alone in the Dark (2008). The vocal performance of “The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices“, an all female Bulgarian chorus, made this game an utmost pleasant experience. I’m not sure if that was the intention the composer was aiming for, but I just found this soundtrack amazing both in music and atmosphere. Again I leave some tracks below to back my claim that this soundtrack was hardly scary…well either that or my idea of relaxing music is haunting melodies. By the way, composer of this soundtrack is Olivier Deriviere.
Track 01 – Prelude to an End
Track 11 – Loneliness
Track 13 – Killing the Fissure
Heads up: Album review coming up this Saturday (01/09/10) at 10:00am EST.
