A Musician observing Video Game Music

she – chiptek

Hey, it’s another she album, who’d a guess? I did.

I just really like she’s music. I personally can’t wait to buy his newest album, Orion, when I get a chance. Interesting fact: this is the only album I haven’t listened to other than the new one. When I got a chance to listen to this…whoa. I was missing out on some great, upbeat catchy music. What makes me enjoy this album even more is the length of most tracks aren’t that long, *even though irony has it that my favorite track is the longest on this album. I’m used to listening to 4-8 minute long pieces of music, regardless of genre. she is usually good with allotting a song with enough time to get it’s point across and move on to the next track. Sometimes the shorter tracks leave a stronger impression on me than a long one*. The same can be said for classical music.

I think this is a reason why I love game music so much, because the length of each track is relatively short and loops. A lot of game music I’ve listened to are quite frankly short, about a bare minimum of 30 seconds to a minute an then some. If it’s a track I really like, the loop is what I look forward to the most, because I get to hear the track again! I’m sure a way to remedy this would be to just put the whole track on loop, but :-p to that.
